We interpret the town of Bedford as a sequence of layers which have accumulated and sedimented over time. The more recent layers have been produced by the working and living culture of the town. The Cultural Quarter is the addition of a new layer, the ambition of which is to reveal and celebrate the old along side the new. The pattern and scale of streets, alleyways, buildings, blocks and open spaces are central to the heritage of the town and vitality of both the present and future culture. MORE »
